Some Contemporary Artists

Title:Some Contemporary Artists
Author:von Leyden, N.
Publication:Marg
Enumeration:Vol. 4 Issue no. 3; Deepavali 1950, p. 34-38
Abstract:A preoccupation with formal values resulting from the synthesis between Indian feeling and lessons of Western technique is evident in their art. In keeping with the aims of a journal of art today, to help fresh shoots of creative activity to grow, Marg draws attention to some new artists in whose work vitality and a sincere desire to search for newer forms are sensed. The works of N.S. Bendre, Shiavax Chavda, K.K. Hebbar, K.H. Ara, S.K. Bakre, S. Choudhuri, and M.F. Hussain are illustrated, with an introduction to their approach and technique.
