Abstract:The Hande palegars were originally the village goudas from Mutgi( Bijapur district) under Vijayanagara. They later shifted to north of Krishna in the days of Bijapur rulers.Their headquarters was at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh devoted to Shreeshaila peetha of the Veerashaivas. The paper outlines the history of the dynasty by refering to some of the literary sources like Hande Anantapur Kaifiyat,Shrishaila Panditaradhya Charitra etc.from the days of hanumantabhupala, a contemporary of Mohammad Adilshah(1625-26) till 1770, for four generations.
