Abstract:Tambur is asmall village in Kalaghatgi taluk, Dharwad district.During the course of the survey of the region an inscription was foundwhich mentions the name of Dharwad and also a math situated here.The inscription mentions the geneology of the priests of the math.This is the first reference made of the math at Dharwad. First time a reference is made to an officer named Kagga who built a temple of Parameshwar in the name of his overlord Kadamba Permadideva.It also mentions certain administrative divisions like Makalli-12 etc which can be identified to this day.
