Abstract:Thirty-four insecticides have been have been tested as contact poisons against the apterous adults of mustard aphid, Lipaphis erysimi Kalt and their relative toxicity has been determined. In the descending order of toxicity, phosphamidon dimethoate,methylparathion,mevinphos, morphothion, phorate, parathion rotenone,aphidan, EPN,thiodemeton and endrin were found to be more toxic than lindane, where as twenty pesticides viz., diazinonm,dichlorvos, malathion,pyrethri, carberyl, formothian, endosulfan, orthdibrom,carbophenothion, p,p`, DDT triclorphon, isodrin, heptachlor, bromodan, nicotine sulphate, chlordane, aldrin dieldrin,toxaphene and thanite were found to be less toxic than lindane. The toxicityof chlorobenzilate was so low that as high as one percent concentration gave only 22.8 percent mortality.
