Biography: Babu Biswanath Das

The life of Mr. Biswanath Das furnishes an example of courage,  goodness and calm simplicity. The true measure of his greatness is best revealed by the peasants cause for which he stands.

A zealous congress worker Mr. Das has captured the imagination of the people and claims the attention of the future ages. The beauty of his austere spirit illuminates the province of which he is Premier.

He was born in 1891. He took his L.L. B Degree of the Calcutta University and was called to the Bar in 1919. After a year he abandoned his practice and took to public life. He was elected to the Madras Council but resigned his membership in obedience to Congress mandate.

He spent his time forming Presidency Ryot Association and Andra Zamindari Ryots Association. A network of this organization spreads all over the presidency. The organization is primarily to protest against the petty tyrannies of the zamindars

He participated in the Civil Disobedience movement and courted imprisonment. He is a n authority on many financial matters.

Without much fuss or ostentation he was laboured for peasant’s weal. His talents and energies of body and mind are at the disposal of his country.
