Giriraj Prasad

Born in 1920 in the village of Kama in the state of  Rajasthan, Shri Giriraj Prasad was trained in the Hathras style of Nautanki by Shri Giriraj Prasad Parashar and Pandit Natharam Gaud. He joined Pandit Natharam Gaud's nautanki group at 16, and has been a professional singer-actor ever since. Trained in both classical and folk music, Shri Giriraj Prasad is known specially as a stage singer. He was associated with Shri E.Alkazi in a 1972 Nautanki based production of the National School of Drama. Among the other honours, Shri Giriraj Prasad received the Fellowship of Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Academi in 1983 and the Tulsi Samman from the Government of  Madhya Pradesh in 1984.
