Biography: Mangaldas M. Pakvasa
Mr. Mangaldas Pakvasa is one of the most estimable of men. He is an admirable Indian gentleman. In him are combined energy that never tires and courage that never flags.
His career is one of abundance of success and absence of notoriety. His claim to the nations confidence seems to be founded upon a life of noble service.
Mr.Mangaldas Pakvasa was born at Bombay, May 7th 1882. He graduated from the Bombay University in 1903 and was awarded the Dhirajlal Mathuras scholarship. In 1904 he took the law degree in first class, winning the Arnold scholarship in Hindu Law. He has distinguished academic career.
In 1932 he took an active part in the Civil Disobedience movement and courted imprisonment. He is one of the leading members of the All India Village Industries Association and is its honorary legal adviser.
His Chamber is a veritable museum of rural handicrafts. The collection of exhibits reveal as clever artistry. With infinite relish Mr. Mangaldas Pakvasa has gathered the products of village industries and sells them, of course, without any commission.
He represents the Broach Panel Mahal cum Surat General Rural Constituency in the Bombay Legislative Council. He is now elected its President. Able, fearless and outspoken a tribute of respect he can fairly claim for all.
