N.Y. Nurie

Mr. Nurie has been a strong influence in molding the ideas of the Muslim youth. He has won the grateful admiration by rousing them from torpor to action.

His resolute for the Congress ideal, his steadfast devotion for the country, and his remarkable organizing abilities have enabled him to rank as a powerful Muslim leader.

He is pure from the taint of sect, or party. He is profoundly loyal to the Congress and its cause. His utterances are full of finely balanced sanity.

He was born at Beawar in Rajputana on 12th November 1895. He got his education from M.A. College in Aligarh. He educated from the Allahabad University and took the L.L.B Degree in 1920. In the same year he took a plunge into the eddying tide of Non-Cooperation. Then he worked in the Khilafat Office in Bombay

In 1921he started his practice at Beawar. From 1920-26 he was a member of the local Municipality. For three years eh was the Vice-Chairman. He shifted to Ahmedabad in 1927 after he was called to the Bar.

In 1928 he started the Muslim Youth League in Ahmedabad. He also organized the Muslim Volunteer Corps. In the Civil Disobedience Movement he actively assisted the Congress by participating in the picketing .In 1933 he organized the Gujarat Political Conference. He presided over the first All India Muslim Youth Conference held at Bombay in19391.

He is a member of the All India Muslim Unity Board and the all India Khilafat Working Committee. For some time he was the member of the Council of the All India Muslim League.

He was elected to the assembly from the Ahmedabad Muslim Constituency as independent. He is the minister in charge of the Public Works Department. By his constant tours and spirited appeals he has secured the unstinted support of the Muslim masses to the Bombay Cabinet.

In person he is tall, well built and his head springs from his spirited shoulders. On his strong features are imprinted energy determination and courage. His face revels s story of burning zeal for a holy cause. His personality radiates his youthful vigor. Hon. Mr.Nurie Is now the apex of his power. He enjoys the applause and confidence of the multitude. He is a perfectly model of the upright man. He is already famous and he will soon be glorious.
