Biography: Nasir Zahiruddin Dadar

Shri Nasir Zahiruddin Dadar is renowned vocalist in alap dhrupad style of singing in the dagar vani tradition. this style was preserved by his family over nineteen uninterrupted generations. After nearly 25 years of the most rigorous training under their elder brothers, Moinuddin and Aminuddin Dagar and their uncles Ustad Riazuddin, Ustad Rahimuddin and Ustad Hussainuddin Dagar. He and his younger brother Faiyazuddin (known as Dagar brothers) became the architects of the revival of Dhrupad as a living and vital music form through their tireless touring of India and foreign countries of performing and teaching. They have regularly performed in India in all major music festivals. He has toured widely abroad visiting many countries and participated in prestigious music festivals. They have formed Dhrupad society in various cities and foreign countries with the aim of propagating this style. Dagar brothers recording are available on LPs, audio cassettes, compact discs etc. Shri Nasir Zahiruddin Dadar is presently (year 1991) teaching the student in the guru shishya parampara.
