Biography: Purshottamdas Tandon

A man of superb faculties, full of political sentiments and ardour, Babu Purshottamdas Tandon has reached the height of human fame.

His mind is the antithesis of strength. His spirit, like fire shines through time. His intense sympathy is his most outstanding characteristic.

His vital energy is prodigious. He has worked his never to rags in the service of the nation. Through his body is enfeebled his spirit has never flagged. That central flame burns not fiercely but steadily in the temple of his heart.

He is a patriot-a patriot of a prouded laurel. He is the people's friend, the soul of his epoch.

He is the spear-head of the agrarian movement in U.P. In 1930 he was the President of the Allahabad District Congress Committee. Then he started the no-tax campaign in areas affected the no-tax campaign in areas affected by the agricultural depressed. He harnessed the peasant contingent to the anti-Imperialist front.

He is a man of robust independence. His oratory is superb, and like a river flows on for ever fed by a myriad inexhaustible rills. His physical energy is matched by the lucidity of his mind.
