Biography: U. Srinivasa Mallaih

Ullal Srinivasa Mallaih was born at Mangalore in 1903. He was educated at the St. Alosius College and the Government College, Mangalore. He was drawn by family tradition into business. He is connected with the working of big industrial concerns like the Kalyanpur Sugar Mills, Mangalore Oil Mills and the Canara Bank.

The success of the Civil Disobedience Movement in Karnataka is a tribute to his liberal donations. The candor of his mind, the simplicity of his life, and the intensity of his patriotic zeal have made his preeminence unquestioned. When his opinions are once formed he moves in an unchanging orbit.

He is the secretary of the Parliamentary Board, treasurer, The District Congress Committee and President, The Mangalore Congress Committee.

Nature has equipped him for the game of politics. With his laughing eyes, fertile brain and engaging qualities he gets behind all defenses. His diplomacy has always succeeded where the noise of his enemy has failed. He is rightly called the "King-Maker".
