Biography: Yunus Hussain Khan

Shri Yunus Hussain Khan is one of the foremost vocalist in the country. He has been prominent in the Hindustani musical scene for more than four decades and has carved himself  eminently as worthy representative of the glowing musical heritage of India at the national as well as at the international level. At the present time of Khalifa (successor) of the Agra gharana, Shri Yunus Hussain Khan trained in the rigorous manners of his heritage by his illusion father, the late Ustad Vilayat Hussain Khan, whose contribution to the advancement of music in present century is monumental. Possessed with rich voice and superb musicianship, he sings Agra gharana gayaki in his own individuality. Besides being a reservoir of wealth of rare ragas and composition of his honored gharana, Shri Yunus Hussain Khan is one of the very few musicians with the authority and stature to the established innumerable composition under the nom-de-plume "Darpan" and several ragas in the repertoire.
