I enjoyed visiting your website the crawling royals. The topic you’re featuring is of special interest to us. We have a story about snake in our new book GOD’S MESSENGERS: What Animals Teach Us about the Divine. The story titled “God’s Love and the Snake” was written by Sam Dufu who is from Nyadrom, Ghana. It is about Sam when he was a little boy. He ate an orange and threw the peels to a snake to eat while visiting his grandmother’s home in the nearby village. She taught him to fear the snake. Later, he learned that as a child, love had been stronger than a learned fear of snakes. Visit us at www.angelanimals.net if you would like more details about our book and why we think sharing stories about the human/animal spiritual bond is important. Thanks.

Hi, I have been regularly vising your site from about more thana year and have found it a very useful resource when Ihave to get back to thinking about the Indian history and especially when I need some more objectivity with th current trends in India. The problem is that there are quite a few fools who don's read history and are easily motivated to brainless ways of living. I think this site provides details about quite a few things. I would suggest people to go to http://www.storyofpakistan.com/default.asp Looking forwared to seeing and reading more from your site. -- Kaushik

I am a young man in this south-west pacific country. It blows my mind away when I behold the pctures of Indian women. Are these exotic women really humans or they descended from somewhere up in the space. They are extremely beautiful. I am left speechless. However, I really like the way you present your website. Very excellent as you cover very well all the aspects of India as a nation. Thank you, everything is very informational and educational. You are doing very well, but should you feel you have room for improvement, go ahead and improve it. However, the Indian women are still the wonder of wonders that thrills my soul. I think this website is pretty good but it is lacking in the Rangoli section. I strongly suggest that a section on some beautiful rangoli designs and how to make them are included, instead of just a photo gallery. This is basically what people are looking for. So do add a section where you have some nice color, colored sand, rice or flower rangolies for people to learn this beautiful art. Thanks.

I think that your contribution is beyond superb. There are people like me who inherited a partitioned greater India. All we know are that the partition was a bloody one and people of that generation still maintain ill feelings towards one another. Your contribution makes it clear that it was not one or two personalities that liberated India, but it was also the ego and the narrow minded ness of these leaders that resulted in the breakup of the sub-continent. But then again the religious fights that still persist today makes you wonder if we could have lived in peace today in an undivided India.

God Bless the Kamats for their sterling work. I only " stumbled" on it today. I wonder if you have a producible picture of Lakshmi Narayan Temple at Rajgir.. this temple is the exact prototype of Sur Shah Sher's Mausoleum, this proving that this was another Hindu temple commandeered to be a Moslem tomb.. can you let me have a picture of Rajgir's temple... I could not find Rajgir on my map Pranaams Also you could reproduce the Ganeshas at the entry site of Taj Mahal, the OM in letters on Taj Mahal's walls, the Trident and Hindu Kalash at atop the pinnacle of the Taj Mahal with the reproduction of this 33 feet pinnacle in the Court Yard... also of the rooms below the graves, yes below the graves.... with a corridor and Hindu rangoli painted on the walls.... Dear Kamats, For a family web-site I am quite amazed by the wealth of information you have collected here. It is obvious that a lot of research and thought has gone into building this site. I liked almost all of it so I can't list things I didn't like:) But if I may list things that could be better: 1. Some links are circular. After going into a certain detail on a subject, I click on a link thinking that I will read more, only to find that I have come back to *a* page that I have seen before. It would probably be good if links leading to the main page of the particular subject are named appropriately. 2. Being an avid photographer, I enjoyed the images quite a lot! I only wish I could see more of them. Finally, thank you for presenting so much on the web. I have spent the better part of the day reading things I had no idea about! You page is informative and yet not boring! My heary congratulations and admirations for the site. I am sure I will be back soon.

Dear Mr.Kamat, It was a wonderful experience to visit your Jain Pot-pourri on Shravana Belgola. I found particularly interesting Mrs.Kamat's book on Education in Ancient India. You have brought together a great deal of hitherto unknown material on Jainism. However, I would strongly disagree with the statement in your Introduction to Jainism that "Along with Buddhism, Jainism is the most important reform movement to separate from the main body of Hinduism and establish an independent unit" Jainism definitely belongs an ancient pre-historic Sramanic and ascetic tradition as evidenced in Vedas and Hindu Puranas. I had recently an occasion to read my Paper on THE RISE, DECLINE AND RENEWALS OF SRAMANIC RELIGIOUS TRADITIONS WITHIN INDIC CIVILISATION WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE EVOLUTION OF JAIN SRAMANIC CULTURE AND ITS IMPACT ON INDIC CIVILISATION in the Conference on Religions in Indic Civilisation organised by Centre for the Study of Developing Societies in collaboration with the International Association for the History of Religions and India International Centre at New Delhi from 18th to 21st December. I shall e-mail this Paper separately to you. -Bal Patil, Member, Maharashtra State Minorities Commission, Government of Maharashtra, (Representing Jain community in Maharashtra), Co-author of JAINISM (Macmillan Co. 1980) with Colette Caillat,A.N. I would like to bring your attention to some misleading information presented in the section on Shri Madhvacharya. The incident of Shri Madhvacharya dreaming of an idol in a boat, getting fisher-folk to extract the idol from the seabed is entirely baseless & truly false. The incident actually happened thus: Once, Shri Madhvacharya was sitting on the said beach in deep meditation. The sea was calm. A merchant ship was nearing the shore when, suddenly, there was a storm because of depression in the sea. The storm caught the ship & its owner, a merchant, unawares. Although the ship was near the shore, its captain could not dock it because of the storm. Then the merchant spotted Shri Madhvacharya on the beach, and cried for help. Shri Madhvacharya, through his yogic vision, came to know about the idol of Shri Krishna was in the vessel. The idol was in the "Gopichandana" rock, placed at the bottom of the ship for balancing it. There were two rocks, the other containing the idol of Shri Balarama. Shri Madhvacharya waved his 'Uttareeya' (Covering Cloth for the upper body). Lo & Behold! The sea became as still as a saint's mind. The merchant, upon reaching land, offered many riches of his ship to Shri Madhvacharya, who promptly refused them, but asked for the two Gopichandana rocks instead. The merchant happily agreed. While carrying the huge rocks himself to Udupi , one of them fell from Shri Madhvacharya's hands & cracked, revealing Lord Balarama's idol. Shri Madhvacharya installed & consecrated the idol in a beautiful temple there itself. He took the other rock to Udupi, composing & singing Dwadasha Stotra all the while, split the rock to reveal, much to the amazement of everyone, an exceptionally beautiful idol of Lord Krishna. And that's how the actual incident happened.
