The first World Kannada Convention (Vishwa Kannada Sammelana Mysore
1989) provided me with a golden opportunity to photograph and experience the richness of
folk artistry of Karnataka. Most of the following color photographs were taken
during the celebration that followed the conference, and documented years later with the
help of my wife, Dr. Jyotsna Kamat who identified them.
K. L. Kamat in The Timeless Theater CD-ROM.
