| I grew up with a contempt for the institution of Arranged Marriages in India, and have considered the phrase "romance of the arranged marriage" to be an oxymoron.|
Of course, I was wrong.
There absolutely was a great deal of romance in the system of arranged marriages, as M.V. Kamath points out in this fine introduction to Amma's book. He remembers the wedding of his sister and the "innocent enjoyments" of the era.
