What Imran Khan Didn't Say Durable Link to this BLOG
The Prime Minster of Pakistan, Imran Khan gave an excellent war time speech today. It is full of honesty, insights, and heart.

What he did not say/could not say; but should have said -- (I am putting words in his mouth)

  • I want to tell the Hindustanis that we Pakistanis are very much victims of the Islamic terrorism that the Indians and the Americans are fighting. Why can't you understand it? Please help us change course from Islamic fundamentalism towards peace and prosperity.
  • Mr. Speaker, decades of Pakistani administrations have been unable to contain the terrorism amongst us. In fact, we suspect that a lot of our tax payers' money and the foreign aid we recieve is being funneled to Taliban, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba and others, but we just don't know how to stop it. We have become a rotten system and a rotten society that we are not able to fix. I foresee a lot more intrusions like what USA carried out and now India is carrying out now. We are losing national sovereignty because of it. I ask all my countrymen to do our part to shun terrorism in all its forms. This reform has to come from within Pakistan otherwise we will have external intrusions.
  • The USA spent a TRILLION dollars at our doorsteps and still unsuccessful in their mission. This is because they believed in the bombs and not in humans. I hope Indians will learn a lesson from it. Bombing Pakistan will not solve the Kashmiri issue.
  • We really do not want a war with India. Indians are friends with Afghanistan and Iran and can open multiple fronts --geographical, political, and economic -- in our conflict. We are already war weary. What we want is a diplomatic rift between India and China so we can milk the Chinese for infrastructure and military co-operation.
  • We are on the verge of a failed state. Indians should realize that they do not want situations like Syria, and Libya in our neighborhood. Destabilization of Pakistan is not in India's best interests. I hope Modi and his administration realizes this grave situation.
