Where is Chuck Norris when we need him? Durable Link to this BLOG
How to Profit from War

Whether they support war or not, everybody wants to benefit from the war. Times of India has a spin on India's benefits in the crisis. The leaders of Turkey have found really large breasts to suckle on. They want like $30 billion from USA, even though the reason America is going there is to protect them. You know, with that kind of money, you can cure poverty in Bangladesh -- one of world's poorest nations.

Anyway, you can call me a war profiteer. I've bought some gold stock.

Where is Chuck Norris when we need him?

It is with not without difficulty that I articulate my views on the Iraq War.

There was joke about George Bush Sr., that I think applies to George W. Bush as well.

Q: Why is Mrs. Bush always on top when they make love?
A: Because George can  only f**k-up!

I mean, think about it, we have all the right reasons to go to war -- world is tired of Saddam's antics, no peace in Middle-East, the entire world's sympathy is for USA after the Sept.11th incidents, and people want more equality everywhere (especially true of those opposing the war at this time), and yet the administration has muffed up the issue. I bet that there are more people who hate America today than before Sept.11th.

Instead of leading the world in the Good vs. Evil fight, all this administration has managed is to divide the good, because of lack of leadership, and lack of  integrity on its own part. Even the American citizens are divided on whether or not to support the President.

I've always believed that one cannot become a great leader without a great cause. George Bush has found a great cause --spread of democracy in the world: from Jordan, to Saudi Arabia, to Iraq and Pakistan to China, and North Korea. And every nation that cherishes the fruits of freedom, and threatened by dictatorial regimes has a moral responsibility to support this cause. The President has never driven this point home, instead focusing on flimsy linkage between Iraq and Al-Qaeda, and blabbering such stuff as "Axis of Evil".

It is so disappointing to see the President fail in basic diplomacy, a field his father so excelled in.

But I believe that the President does have a mission -- a long term, and very important mission, that all of us who honor freedom, truth, and righteousness, must support. We must act, and support the actions so that  fellow humans (and animals) share the benefits of progress mankind has made since the World Wars. It is a far-reaching and profound message our generation will be identified with.

Of course, if that is not the purpose of this war, then I have a responsibility to oppose it.

See, we don't even know what the war is for!

If the purpose of the war is just to kill Saddam Hussein, then we don't need war. Like my wife joked, "Why don't we send the Delta Force, or James Bond to assassinate Hussein?"

Pardon the humor, but the administration sure could use some tips on capturing people's imagination; like what we can achieve when there is harmony in the world. Because it isn't happening with "You are either with us, or against us" rhetoric.
