Abstract:Notes and a portfolio on the sculptures of Madhya Pradesh from various sites: Salabhañjika images (c. 100 BCE) and carved reliefs from Sanchi; relief of a dancer from Pawaya (5th century); an early 10th-century salabhañjika (female figure) from Gyraspur (near Bhopal); a simhavahini image (10th century) from Neemuch; a Varaha incarnation of Vishnu from the Vidisha caves; the sculptures of Khajuraho (10th-11th century); and the 10th-century Uma-Maheshwara sculpture from Ashapuri.
