Abstract:For the study of Indian History of the ancient and medieval period,we are entirely dependent on the inscriptions as source materials. Since a majority of these are donative in character one has to patiently and diligently study numerous inscriptions in order to reconstruct the history of a particular region, dynasty or period.In this connection the author speaks of the book on inscriptions of Sholapur district, where in majority are in Kannada and none in Marathi, proving that this district was a part of Karnataka earlier.Hence pursuit of truth is essetial to find real facts of history.
