Abstract:Somadevasuri, a Jain poet who lived in the latter part of the 10th century wrote Nitivakyamrita, a hand book on polity in 32 chapters.Based on the model of Kautilya`s Arthasastra, it furnishes vivid account of the seven elements of the state and sets forth guidelines for the proper functioning of the state.
