Abstract:The Kannda areas in the former Bombay Karnataka came to have some kind of individual identity from the days of the Peshwa rule.The paper plans to study the period from 1700AD to 1920 AD from the point of view of 'give and take' in social and cultural field between Karnataka and Maharashtra.The places where the source materials(archives, bakhars,Kaifiyats,literary sources,folk traditions, geneologies and new place names,archeological remains, oral history)are available is listed here and the scope and the utility of the study is also elaborately enumerated.
