Abstract:The article deals with grain banks which helped the rural farmers just as the co-operative banks did in providing loans to them.They were found in many districts of Karnataka, but now some have ceased to exist.In the district of Kodagu there are 128 grain banks functioning successfully even today, and an account of their modus operandi with illustration of a particular successful grain bank is presented in this paper.
