Abstract:The author takes into account the sea- warfare in the coastal Karnataka since first century from the hero-stones available in the region. He describes the role of Goa Kadambas, Keladi kings in safeguarding their kingdoms from foreign domination.He has used foreign sources like Portuguese, Dutch, English and local sculptures to give information about the place of warfare and about the ships used.
