Biography: Babu Mathura Prasad Singh

Born in 192 in an agricultural family in village Gangeya in Muzzaffarpur District, Babu Mathura Prasad Singh showed a keen intellect and a highly courageous spirit from his early childhood.

He began taking active part in public affairs at a very early age. Being a born leader of men he easily walked into political arena, and commanded respect and attention. He took part in the Bengal Partition agitation and toiled tirelessly for spreading the message of Swadeshi in the province.

His ideals of service and sacrifice were put to severe testing 1921 when the Satyagraha was started, and later in 1930 when the Civil Disobedience Movement was put into action by the Congress and it must be said to the credit of Mr. Singh that he emerged from the trail covered with glory, having a series of sentences to his credit.

He is in the forefront in the administration of Local Bodies at Muzzaffarpur and holds a conspicuous position in the B.P.C.C. He is a member of the A.I.C.C.
