Biography: Balram Pathak

Born in 1923 in the village of Ishwarpur, Bihar. Shri Balram Pathak learnt Sitar from his father Pandit Ram Govind Pathak and his uncle Shri Rameshwar Pathak. Besides the Sitar he also plays Surbahar and Sursingar instruments.

Over along career as a classical musician, Shri Balram Pathak has performed widely all over the country. His music is distinguished by chaste style, purity of tone, and mastery over rhythm. Reader in instrumental music at Indira kala Sangit Vishwavidyala, khairagarh for some years, Shri Balram Pathak has been guru to some well known Sitar players today. He has issued gramophone records in India and France.
