The best part of web publishing is that corrections are instantaneous. So while an Errata is really not necessary for a website, to put the record straight, I am listing the important corrections made to the data at Kamat's Potpourri.

Vikas's Goof Log

  • The period of Bhimbetka paintings was translated as between 25,000 to 500,000 instead  of between 25,000 to 50,000 years. Corrected January 31, 2007

  • Channappa Uttangi's name was spelled as Channabasappa Uttangi. Corrected January 27, 2006

  • The Black Rhino was incorrectly identified. Corrected December 18, 2006

  • The multi-limbed man at Ellora was identified as Shiva. But that was really Rawana. Shiva is shown suppressing him. Corrected July 30, 2006 

  • The photograph identified as Prof. Gopalkrishna Adiga was not him, but of V.G. Bhat. Corrected April 12, 2004

  • Sanjay Gandhi was Indira Gandhi's younger son, and not elder. Corrected August 4, 2003

  • A leopard was incorrectly identified as the now extinct Indian Cheetah. Corrected August 4, 2003

  • Jainism was founded by Rishabha, and not by Mahavira who was the 24th Tirthankara. Corrected July 22, 2001

  • In the mythology section, painting of Satyavati was incorrectly identified as that of Ganga. Corrected April 19, 2001

  • The construction of Golden temple in Amritsar was attributed to Ranjit Singh, instead of fifth Guru - Guru Arjun Dev Ji. Corrected April 1, 2001

  • The picture marked College students playing Holi was in fact picture of young people at a Moharam procession. Corrected Feb 15, 2001

  • The quote that India is a colorful nation  was attributed to Raghu Rai instead of Raghubir Singh. Corrected November 2, 2000

  • The Timeless Theater icon had to be changed because of its close resemblance to a trademarked logo. Modified Logo December 1999
